How It Works

Swift Pro

Watch our short video to see how Swift® Pro uses gentle microwave energy to treat verrucas and warts quickly and effectively. This section explains what happens during treatment, the benefits you can expect, and a few simple precautions to keep in mind - helping you feel informed and confident before your appointment.

Microwave Therapy

Targeted Treatment

Swift® is a medical treatment that uses precisely targeted microwave energy to treat skin lesions such as verrucas (plantar warts) and warts. The microwaves are delivered through a small probe applied to the affected area of skin for a few seconds. The energy generates heat within the tissue, stimulating an immune response that helps the body to recognise and clear the underlying viral infection (caused by the human papillomavirus, HPV).

What To Expect

During The Procedure

  • The treatment involves applying the Swift® probe to the verruca or wart for short bursts, each lasting around 2 seconds.

  • Some patients experience a sharp, hot sensation during application, which typically subsides very quickly once the energy delivery stops.

  • No anaesthetic or dressings are usually required, and you can walk and continue normal activities immediately after treatment.

Benefits

of Swift Pro

  • Swift® treatment is clean and non-invasive (no breaking of the skin).

  • There is minimal post-treatment care.

  • It stimulates your body’s own immune system to target the virus, potentially leading to long-term clearance.

Precautions

and Contraindications

Swift® treatment is not suitable for individuals who:

  • Have metal implants or pacemakers near the treatment site.

  • Are pregnant.

  • Have poor sensation in the feet (for example, due to diabetic neuropathy) without prior assessment.

Please discuss any medical conditions, medications, or concerns with your podiatrist before treatment.
